Well folks, just seven days ago (SEVEN DAYS!) we set out to raise at least $1500 for our Before I Die Pittsburgh project. Tonight we achieved that goal and will be funded the raised monies on May 9th. Words cannot accurately describe how honored we feel that people gave their time and money to make this Kickstarter a success. It sincerely means the world to have people we know well, and people we don’t know at all, pledge to make our passion project a success. On behalf of Rob and myself, we’d like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for believing that even the smallest people can make a huge difference. Thanks for believing in the power of artistic expression, the power of the written word, and for assisting us in shaping the future of our city, one giant chalkboard at a time.
Although this was our goal, it ain’t over!
Keep spreading the word to friends, families, and strangers alike. We’ve got 23 more days to raise funds and the more pledges we receive, the more walls we can put all over Pittsburgh.
Thanks again, and let’s keep it up!
This project started with a vision to connect individuals to the community. Our dream is to do the same in Pittsburgh. This is the beginning…
TODAY HAS BEEN THE BEST DAY OF MY FREAKING LIFE.
First of all…OUR KICKSTARTER IS A STAFF PICK.
I repeat… OUR KICKSTARTER IS A STAFF PICK.
Do you realize how hard it is to get the attention of an entire staff of people, when there are hundreds of projects launched on Kickstarter daily? Did you know that it’s a gamble, EVEN IF our project is a smashing success?
We knew this.
Rob and I don’t expect much, when it comes to donations. Even if we had 1500 people give us just one dollar, that would still mean the world. But this…this right here is amazing. It’s amazing because it provides awareness to our little project. It shines a light on the work we’re trying so hard to accomplish in our hometown. It means that regular people can get noticed too, and that their contributions won’t go unnoticed by the masses.
It means that this happened because of each and every one of you, and that alone means the world to the two of us.
Thanks for the motivation, thanks for the love, thanks for the donations, and thanks for making Rob and I truly believe this project will be a success.
Tell a friend, a stranger, a business man, an artist…tell anyone to keep this project moving to the finish line!
Best,
Dee
The Before I Die: Pittsburgh project is an interactive public art project created by Candy Chang in New Orleans. It encourages and inspires community residents and visitors alike to share their stories and dreams in a public forum. Through this project we can all be reminded of how valuable we are, not only as residents, but as united communities.
My good friend Rob and I (I’m Dee), are bringing this project to recently developed and underdeveloped neighborhoods in Pittsburgh. We’ve lived here all our lives and have seen our city flourish during reconstruction, but we’ve also witnessed the consequences of this urban redevelopment.
In short, this project is a small step towards preserving the culture and identity of the city we hold so close to our heart. It’s our goal as individuals without titles, mere residents, to bring this project to Pittsburgh to remind our community of how powerful it is, and that even the smallest person can make a difference.
Support our project with Kickstarter!
Best,
Dee & Rob
