We actually do not. But if you happen to be around the Northside area of town, the Allegheny Alliance Church has a wall on an abandoned building behind its church. Check it out!
Before I Die: Pittsburgh had its first installation party of sorts, was today in Arsenal Park. We worked on completing the wall for about 12 hours, priming, painting, repainting, and mounting it on the gates of Arsenal Elementary/Middle School in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
A lot of hard work has gone into making this project a success, not only through funding and building awareness, but in building the wall itself. Thanks to Candy Chang and the Civic Center, to Patti Camper, and the Arsenal School family, to Becky from Lawrenceville United, to our Kickstarter backers, to Janna, Dave, Chas, Emily, Derrick, Sarah, Jeremie, and Andrew for his power drill. More than anything we’d like to thank all of the countless people who Facebooked, reposted on twitter, sent the message to friends, or even just wrote on our wall. Thanks so much for all your help and all your love. We couldn’t have done any of this by ourselves, and we are forever grateful for your support.
If you’d like to see this in person and happen to be in the Pittsburgh area, the wall will be in Lawrenceville on the corner of 40th and Butler Street until June 10.
WOOOOHOOOOO!
Today we ended up with a cover article on the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.
WHAT?!
We cannot express to you and everyone around us, how happy we are that this is happening. It’s happening very quickly, but like all good things, it doesn’t matter how fast or how slow they happen…it’s that they happen at all.
In case you’re unfamiliar with Help Ink, it is a collaborative site featuring unique artwork created by various designers and artists, which are sold in the form of prints, mounted posters, tees and stationery. Each piece is associated with a designated charity, to which at least 40% of each sale will be donated. Above is just a small sampling of the current artwork they have to offer — check out the rest right here.
Really great stuff if you’re interested in art!
Well, we may not be the first to bring it to the Burgh, but we’re pretty well loved nonetheless. Thanks Candy and Kristina for the tweet!
